Shenzhen rolls out holiday traffic rules
Shenzhen Daily 2021-04-29 09:57

Vehicles will be banned from parking along the roads around Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District and the park’s parking slots will be closed to visitors during the May Day holiday, Shenzhen traffic police said yesterday.

Among other holiday traffic control measures, vehicles parking at Jiefang Road and Heping Road in Dongmen Business Circle will be towed away, police said.

Police estimate vehicles at parks and business areas will increase by 20 percent over the May Day holiday compared to previous years thanks to good weather for outing. Around 500,000 vehicles from other parts of the country are expected to come to the city during the May Day holiday, 17 percent more than the number during the Qingming Festival holiday.

Drivers of vehicles headed to Dapeng need to make reservations in advance. Statistics showed 20 percent of the 40,000-a-day quota had been reserved in the first three days since reservations began Saturday.

Drivers to Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden also need reservations.

Police will also impose vehicle controls at Hongqiao Park in Guangming, Wutong Mountain, Coastal Culture Park in Bao’an, the Meisha area in Yantian and Shenzhen Bay Park.

Police estimated that the travel peak time for outbound vehicles will be between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m tomorrow, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Guangdong Transportation Group estimates an average of around 7.7 million vehicles a day will be on expressways during the May Day holiday period. Expressways will be toll free for cars with no more than seven seats between Saturday and May 5.

The expressways, especially the inter-provincial expressways, will face a cross-provincial travel peak. The border-crossing traffic between Guangdong, Hunan and Guangxi will reach 500,000 vehicles a day.

To relieve traffic pressure on Humen Bridge, Dongguan police will close the entrance from Weiyuan Overpass to Dongguan-Foshan Expressway between tomorrow and May 5. Trucks and buses with more than 40 seats will be banned on Humen Bridge during the May Day holiday.

The transportation group reminded that some sections of the emergency lanes of Boluo-Shenzhen Expressway are closed due to road projects. The Hudong parking areas and Longgang service station of Shenzhen-Shanwei Expressway are closed due to the expressway’s renovation.
